What Is a Sailor?

A Sailor is the decorative memorial piece that hangs beneath your wind chime.

It may include glass, stones, charms, symbols, colors, or imagery inspired by nature, faith, or personal meaning.

Others may include a keepsake urn or we can incorporate ashes into the design, depending on the option you choose.

Photos shown on our Shop page are examples of previous handmade Sailors we currently have in stock. Each piece will vary slightly, which is part of its beauty.

Optional Sailor & Memorial Options

If you would like additional personalization, ash incorporation options, or a specific Sailor design, you may choose one of the option below. Each personalized request is a one-of-a-kind creation, thoughtfully designed for a particular family and created to be uniquely their own and will never appear on the shop page.

Keepsake Urn (Family-Handled)

+$50

This option is for families who wish to personally handle their loved one’s ashes.

Includes:

• A keepsake urn.

• Designed to replace the complimentary sailor included with your chime.

• You place the ashes or small token, such as hair or perfume, inside the keepsake urn yourself and remove the complimentary sailor and attach the urn after filling.

Custom Sailor (No Ashes)

+$50 (Includes Customization from Photo)

This option allows for personalization without ashes.

You may:

• Choose from an existing handcrafted Sailor created by LouLou or Mary

OR

Ashes are not included in this option.

Additional Sailors may be purchased if you wish to add more than one keepsake to your order.

With Ashes Incorporated

+$50 (Additional charge to your customized sailor)

This is our most personal Sailor option.

Includes:

A small portion of your loved one’s ashes, perfume, a lock of hair, small flowers or petals from a funeral arrangement, or another meaningful element may be incorporated into the design. Only a small amount of memorial material is used (approximately 1/4 teaspoon). Ashes or other meaningful elements can be incorporated into one of our Sailors available on our Shop page or into a custom-designed Sailor.

When you order Ash Inclusion

If you select ash inclusion for a loved one or pet, you will be guided through a required authorization form before the item is added to your cart. This step ensures proper consent and allows you to securely provide all necessary details needed to complete your purchase. It also includes instructions for packaging and mailing a small amount of the cremated ashes.

1. Select your memorial chime 

2. Choose your chime color option 

3. Decide if you’d like an upgraded Sailor option 

4. If you would like ashes incorporated, select on one of the Ash Addition options (Pet or Human). You will be guided through a required authorization form before the item is added to your cart.
